Big, bold & commanding a premium price, we’re sampling some of the finest reds of the 00’s

BARBARESCO 2011

Barbaresco is made from 100% Nebbiolo and shares its cult status as one of the finest wines in the world. Barbaresco has a slightly maritime climate: warmer, drier and milder than its neighbour Barolo. This means its grapes tend to ripen earlier than those in Barolo. As a result, the wines are less tannic and more approachable at an earlier age. However there is still plenty of acidity and tannins to make this an age-worthy red. Barbaresco is rich, spicy flavours and perfumed sweetness and is considered more elegant and refined than its counterpart.

MONTEPULCIANO VILLA GEMMA 2008

Montepulciano is a red wine grape variety native to centre Italy. It is known to produce full-bodied red wines that show musky berry flavors with firm tannins and good aging potential. Even when grown in hot climates, Montepulciano .
The structure and richness of the Montepulciano is capable of reaching high quality wines ,Villa Gemma is a fine example.

BRUNELLO 2009

Good-quality Sangiovese is prized for its high acid, firm tannins & balanced nature. Savoury flavours of dark cherries & black stonefruit are characteristic, & may be backed by secondary notes of tomato leaves & dried herbs. The use of oak has become more popular & this coaxes richer flavours from the grapes, tending toward plum & wild raspberry.

AMARONE 2011

Concentrated deep ruby , Beautifully concentrated fruit on the nose, with hints of marzipan, black cherry and plum. Complex, concentrated and wonderfully supple. Amarone  is top-quality red wines of Veneto, northeast Italy, the most notable of which are Valpolicella  and Bardolino.
